The Preshow
Ends Now.
We like trailers, too. But not that many trailers. And definitely not that many commercials.
We want to know if there’s still time to buy popcorn, whether the sound is great, and whether the floors are sticky. With reports from other moviegoers, It’s Starting! helps you estimate when the movie will begin, compare theaters and auditoriums, and know what to expect before you go.
Now get to the theater. It’s Starting!

The Odyssey
The beta is just beginning. Your reports will help build better start-time estimates and theater insights for everyone.
See why your contribution matters →A Better Movie Night in Three Simple Steps
Add your movie in seconds, plan around the expected movie start, and help the next moviegoer with one quick contribution.
Add Your Movie
Share a ticket from Apple Wallet, scan a ticket or email screenshot from Photos, or enter the theater and showtime manually.
Plan Your Arrival
When enough reports are available, you'll see the best available estimate of when the movie will begin. Set a live countdown to plan concessions and parking.
Help the Next Person
When the movie begins, tap once to log the actual start time. Afterward, answer one quick question about screen, sound, temperature, or seating comfort.
Know More Before You Go
It's Starting! helps you make better choices about when to arrive, where to see the movie, and what kind of experience to expect.
Know When It Starts
The printed showtime usually tells you when the preshow begins—not when the movie starts. See the best available estimate based on actual start times reported by other moviegoers.
Choose the Better Experience
Two nearby theaters may be showing the same movie, but the experience can be completely different. Compare feedback about screens, sound, seating, cleanliness, and temperature.
Report It Forward
You already experienced the preshow and auditorium. A quick report helps the next moviegoer know what to expect and makes the app more useful for everyone.
Know When. Choose Where. Help Who Comes Next.
It's Starting! becomes more useful as more moviegoers contribute. These product previews use illustrative sample data to show how the experience can grow.
Compare estimates and averages
Compare the expected preshow at a particular theater with broader chain averages as the database expands.
Find the best room in the building
See what other moviegoers say about a particular room—not only the theater as a whole.
Every tap makes the crowd smarter
Logging an actual start takes one tap. As the community grows, see how your report improved the data.
Statistics shown are examples and do not represent current beta totals. Theater and movie names are used for demonstration purposes only. No affiliation or endorsement is implied.
The Beta is Where the Data Begins
It's Starting! is powered by moviegoers, which means the app begins with limited historical information. That is not a side effect of the beta. It is the reason for it.
Chain Patterns
Begin identifying typical preshow patterns across theater chains.
Theater Patterns
Build a picture of what moviegoers experience at a particular location.
Movie Insights
Understand whether particular movies, formats, and showings tend to have different preshow lengths.
Auditorium Intel
Compare individual rooms based on screen, sound, seating, cleanliness, comfort, and more.
Chain averages become theater averages. Theater averages become movie- and auditorium-specific insights. The more people contribute, the more useful every future movie night becomes.
However You Go, Know Before You Go
Whether you're taking the kids, planning around a busy schedule, or tracking down the best screen format, we've got you covered.
Families
Less Waiting with Kids

A Friendship Bonded Over Film
We’re Mike and Pete. We became friends on a summer afternoon in 1989, when our nine-year-old selves bonded over Tim Burton’s Batman.
For more than 35 years, movies have remained one of our favorite things to talk about—and going to the theater has remained one of our favorite things to do.
But movie night has become increasingly unpredictable. A printed showtime does not tell you when the movie will begin. Two nearby theaters can offer completely different experiences. Even different auditoriums in the same building can vary dramatically in screen quality, sound, comfort, and upkeep.
"We want every moviegoer to know what they are walking into."
We kept coming back to the same idea: Moviegoers deserve better information before they choose where to go and when to arrive.
That is why we created It’s Starting!—a community-powered app designed to help people plan a better movie night and share what they learned with the next person.

Moviegoers log the actual time the movie begins. It's Starting! uses the available reports to provide the best estimate it can for a theater, movie, chain, or auditorium. The information becomes more useful as more people contribute.
The app will show the best available information and indicate how much data supports it. Early in the beta, some results may rely on broader averages. Some movies or theaters may not yet have enough reports to provide an estimate.
No. Movie schedules and preshows can change. Estimates depend on the amount, quality, and recency of available reports. The app provides better information for planning, not a guaranteed movie start.
No. After a visit, the app asks one quick question. You can stop there or choose to provide more feedback about the auditorium, screen, sound, seating, cleanliness, staff, temperature, and crowd.
No. Depending on your device and ticket source, you can share a ticket from Apple Wallet, scan a ticket or email screenshot from Photos, or manually enter the theater, movie, and showtime.
No. The app gives you more information so you can make your own decision. Arrive for every trailer, skip part of the preshow, or simply use the estimate to plan parking and concessions.
The app uses ticket details to identify information such as the movie, theater, date, and showtime. It does not access payment-card information. Read our full Privacy Policy for details.
Beta users help shape the app and begin building the community information behind it. Your product feedback helps improve the experience, while your movie reports help create useful start-time and theater insights for future moviegoers.
